覲廷書室(Kun Ting Study Hall)は1870年に建てられた坑尾村(Hang Mei Tsuen)にある先祖崇拝堂・書室で、崇德堂(Shung Tak Tong)としても知られています。
覲廷書室(Kun Ting Study Hall) is a study hall・ancestral hall which is located at 坑尾村(Hang Mei Tsuen). It is also known as 崇德堂(Shung Tak Tong).
先祖崇拝や氏族教育としての目的以外に、イギリス統治時代に警察署や庁舎としても使われました。
Not only as the place for ancestral worshipping and education, 覲廷書室(Kun Ting Study Hall) was once used as a police station and a local office when the British governed this area.
・歴史: History
覲廷書室(Kun Ting Study Hall)は1870年、清朝(Qing dynasty)の同治帝(Tongzhi emperor) (1861年〜1875年統治)時代に、鄧族(Tan Clan) 22代の鄧香泉(Tang Heung-chuen)によって、父親の鄧覲廷(Tang Kun-ting)を祀るために建てられました。
覲廷書室(Kun Ting Study Hall) was established in 1870, under 同治帝(Tongzhi emperor) (governed from 1861 to 1875) era in 清朝(Qing dynasty), by 鄧香泉(Tang Heung-chuen), the 22nd generation of 鄧族(Tan Clan) for the purpose of honoring his father, 鄧覲廷(Tang Kun-ting).
主に先祖崇拝と(中国)科舉(Imperial Civil Service Examination)対策を主とした教育の場として使用されましたが、1905年の中国科挙廃止後も坑尾村(Hang Mei Tsuen)や周辺の鄧族(Tan Clan)の教育の場として戦前まで使われました。
It had served mainly as the place for ancestral worshipping and education, especially for the preparation for (中国: China) 科舉(Imperial Civil Service Examination). After the demolition of the examinations in 1905, it has continued to be used as the educational place for the younger 鄧族(Tan Clan) of 坑尾村(Hang Mei Tsuen) and around areas until before WWⅡ.
1899年のイギリスによる新界(New Territories)の統治の際には一時的に警察署および土地事務所として使用されました。
Under British takeovers on 新界(New Territories) from 1899, it was used as a temporary police station and a local office.
1991年に香港賽馬會(Hong Kong Jacky Club)の寄付のもと、建設当時の様子に復元されました。
In 1991, thanks to the restoration works donated by 香港賽馬會(Hong Kong Jacky Club), the original magnificence of 覲廷書室(Kun Ting Study Hall) was retrieved.
・構造: Structure
2つの書室と3つの区画、1つの中庭の構造で、灰色のレンガと花崗岩の柱で造られています。
覲廷書室(Kun Ting Study Hall) was constructed as 2 halls, 3 bays and one courtyard structure with gray bricks and granite columns.
中庭を挟んだ2室が教室、前の書室の裏にある小部屋が図書館として利用されていました。
There are some small rooms in, 覲廷書室(Kun Ting Study Hall). The 2 , which are located on both side of the courtyard were used as classroom, and the one behind front Hall was used as a library.
南側に隣接する清暑軒(Ching Shu Hin)が教師の居住施設として利用されており、小さな橋で繋がっている部屋があります。
清暑軒(Ching Shu Hin), which is adjoining on the Southside of 覲廷書室(Kun Ting Study Hall) was used as accommodations for the teachers and visitors. A small overhead bridge connects the small rooms on each.
祭壇をはじめ壁絵、柱や屋根の石部や木部の彫刻、石膏の成形などの装飾に繊細で高いレベルの伝統的な嶺南(Lingnan)地域の建築様式が施されており、当時の建築技術の高さが伺えます。
The splendid and delicate decorations with traditional 嶺南(Lingnan) style can be seen all over 覲廷書室(Kun Ting Study Hall), such as on the altar, wall paintings, the carvings on wooden or stone brackets and columns, ridge and fascia boards of the roofs, and plaster moldings.
They show us the high-level craftsman skill at the time when 覲廷書室(Kun Ting Study Hall) was constructed.
